History of Oktoberfest
Did you know that the original Oktoberfest occurred in Munich, on October 18, 1810? The purpose of the first party was to commemorate the marriage between Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. A huge horse race was the main event back then. There was no Oktoberfest the following year because Bavaria was involved in the Napoleonic war. The founding citizens of Munich assumed responsibility for festival management beginning in 1819, and it was agreed that the Oktoberfest would become an annual event. Oktoberfest was later lengthened and the date pushed forward because the end of September in Bavaria often has very good weather. The high temperatures during the first week of Oktoberfest usually make for very thirsty visitors! And wherever you find beer being served, you’ll find the servers wearing a Beer Girl Costume.
Today, Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to early October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with some six million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest Costume is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event. The Munich Oktoberfest traditionally takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October (if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival will go on until October 3, German Unity Day; thus making the festival 17 days when the first Sunday is October 2 and 18 days when it is October 1.)
Whether you’re attending Oktoberfest this year in Munich, Michigan, or somewhere in between, you’ll find the best beer girl costume online that will make the occasion more memorable. Not to worry if you don’t sprechen sie Deutsch- in these sexy outfits, you’ll intoxicate without saying a word!
Please don’t drink and drive. Use an inexpensive, accurate personal breathalyzer to know FOR SURE if you are safe and legal to drive after consuming alcoholic beverages.
